Principal’s Message

On behalf of the students and staff at Bret Harte Elementary School, I welcome you to our school website.   Thank you for taking the time to visit.  I hope that our website gives every visitor a glimpse of who we are and what we are all about. I encourage you to visit our website often, as it will be updated regularly.

Every member of our staff is committed to provide a quality and positive educational experience for every child. Our school motto is “Educating Takes Everyone.”  We strive to provide a rigorous, standard’s based education for all students.  This rigorous education is meant to equip all children with the fundamental skills they will need for years to come.  Our mission, therefore, is to provide students with a rigorous academic program, which will help prepare students to become life long learners and motivate them to realize their full potential.

We believe that children will be more successful in school when the school and the parents work together.  Bret Harte parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s education.  Bret Harte provides several opportunities for parents to do this.  They include attending parent conferences, Awards Assemblies, Character Counts Assemblies, Book Fairs, Open House, School Site Council, and ELAC Meetings.  Parents may also find that volunteering in the classroom, chaperoning field trips, and helping at different stations on field day are also excellent opportunities to become involved. Parent involvement at home is also important.  We ask each parent read with his/her child nightly and assist with any other homework their child brings home.

I am extremely proud of our school and the wonderful adults who work together to better serve our students.  We have made great progress and have incorporated effective learning strategies, techniques, and technology to enhance and stimulate every student’s interest geared at developing a positive attitude towards learning and life.

Success at the school is attributed to the members of our team.  They include our parents, our staff, and most importantly, our students.  I am privileged and honored to be part of this amazing team.  Together, we will work at providing the best learning opportunities for our students and successful teaching tools for our staff.  I encourage everyone to visit our campus in order to take pride in the hard work that every student and staff member is putting forth.
